Very dark take on the post-war wizarding world, very sad and bleak. I liked that you ended it on an upbeat note, though, and that they saw possibilities for redemption in each other. Thanks for an interesting story!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked your gift. I was a bit nervous writing it because you have no idea what your recipient likes or doesn't like or what can squick them, especially since it's Halloween and I love going onto the dark and scary side of things for this holiday. That's part of the reason for the upbeat ending; I didn't want to make it too depressing or horrific in case you didn't like those things! :)
:-) Thank you! I really appreciated that, especially as I generally don't gravitate towards unrelenting, unrelieved angst and dark, depressing endings. I love scary, but with Dramione, I also love redeemed and optimistic, finding common ground and love. Or the possibility of it at some future point, anyway. Your story fit the bill very nicely!
Well, I'm glad I could give you scary and hopeful at the same time! Oh, and I realized later that I hadn't given this piece a title, so I'm calling it "The UnDead May Be With Us".
That was bleak, desperate, chilling, in other words perfect for the theme and the prompt. That little touch of hope in the end, that they found something to cling to in all the desolation is a beautiful touch. Nicely done!
Awww, thanks so much for the lovely comment. I love delving into the scary side of things for Halloween, and I've always wanted to do a zombie apocalypse story, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I have to admit that part of the hopeful ending was due to the unknown of my recipient (would they appreciate character death? maybe not), but partly, too, to wrap back around to the blessing giving in the Samhain rites and, thus, lighten the story. :)
This was so sad and desperate almost. But then the action picked up and all in all ended on a slightly happy note. Really well done for such a short story! :-)
Thanks so much, dear! And, no, they can't be enemies, not when they're fighting against other things for their very survival. I always wanted to delve into the zombie apocalypse. ;)
