I didn't realize until the end of Life After People that one of the experts was David Brin, one of my favorite scifi authors. He wrote the Postman (which got made into that Kevin Costner movie), and the Uplift series, which deals with species making the leap to intelligence, a theme he referenced at the end of the show.
