Manly Men Wear Corsets

So this is a bit of an update where things stand with my effigy corsets and French farthingales.

Haven't started them.

Why you ask?

The task seems incredibly daunting, and I just have not had the courage to face my fear :::sniffle:::

If you want to bend over in your new corset, do not use reeds. They will snap if you bend them too far. Use cable ties instead and you can easily tie your shoes in a corset. But if you want great posture forced on you, go with the reeds. I never sat so straight in my life! My back was sore the first day, but the second day my body had figured out how to sit straight and proper.

As for type of reed, get round reeds for the french farthingale 8-9mm size. For the corset if you still want to use reeds, get 1/4" flat oval reeds.

And I understand your fears, I really do. It took me at least a year to really get myself psyched up to even contemplate the patterns, and I only got into it because of the looming deadline for Visalia. Now that it is done, it really isn't too different from a standard Elizabethan, just different ;-) I know you can do one, and hopefully many!
