I'm not sure my system can handle the excitement of having more new David Bowie music. It's not as big of a surprise this time, obviously, but I'm still all twitchy and bright-eyed, like a hamster on meth.
The sound is more Reality (as opposed to "Where Are We Now?" and its more Heathenesque feel) and the video is, er... interesting. Floria

I love the song and the video. Great choice to use Tilda Swinton; she's more than bold enough to go for something like this.

I feel like, so ahead of the curve or something, with the Bowie-Tilda Swinton connection. :D Like, DUH they are each other's genderfucked androgynous creepy doppleganger and it is glorious. AND they both play memorable creepy-elegant magical villains messing with teen protagonists' morals and nascent sexuality. It was MEANT TO BE. (Ok, so I changed the dynamic in GND and that makes this video a little weird) - but basically this video feels like someone went through my very own fangirl Christmas wishlist, it's insane.
I do feel his voice isn't quite as "flexible", tho? Not quite the range he had younger? I mean, he has aged, duh - and I am crap at musicology so I'd love to be proved wrong or know the words I'm looking for here.
But basically, still, a glorious and unlooked-for Return of the King.

I dunno re: the voice flexibility. That's pretty common as people get older, but then again this particular song doesn't make many demands on his vocal range, either. Bowie's voice has always run to extremes, from a high, nasal wobble to full-out crooning. He did fine on Heathen and Reality for songs that required a lot of lung, though.
Guess we'll have to see. All the more reason to be impatient about hearing the album in full! :-}

Also, whilst trolling the David Bowie facebook page, I saw that the entire album (minus bonus tracks) are streaming for fee until the release date on iTunes. So re: the voice flexibility-- nope. He's still got it. Definitely an artistic choice. :D
