Well, damn.

In Bowie news, producer Tony Visconti's recent interview with The Times says that Bowie's not planning a tour, and he's also not planning on doing any interviews ever again. So no Glastonbury or music festivals, either. On the bright side, Visconti did say that Bowie does still want to make records, so there's that?

He made the front page of The Times the day after, which is really something.

No more tours? Well, there was a time when he didn't want to be a solo artist or perform any classic songs anymore either - maybe he'll change his mind again?

The Guardian had some good info too, sounds like he's planning another album very soon.

And my favourite quote of the week comes from Nicholas Pegg:

`What happened this week goes way beyond a simple stunt. It actually transforms Bowie's long silence into a work of art in its own right. To paraphrase that famous line from The Usual Suspects, the greatest trick that David Bowie ever pulled was convincing the world that he'd retired.'

But yeah, it's all much, much better than we had before. So I'll happily take whatever he's offering us. :)

Oh yes, I saw Visconti had also teased us with the possibility of another album in a relatively short amount of time. I also heard they might release another single before the March album release date, too. *crosses fingers*

Thanks for the article link. I am still not over the fact that Bowie's back and everyone's talking about it! So fantastic...

It's just like the eighties... Bowie in the charts, unemployment, riots, tory government.

It'll be bubble perms next

*nod* This is what I'm hoping, too. After all, Visconti said that Bowie told him in 2009 that he wasn't writing! I found that really hard to believe. Not touring makes sense because it's exhausting, but not writing at all? I can't see an artist quitting permanently. Even if he's not up for a world tour, surely the one-off concert isn't out of the question?

BWW is an interesting place. I used to lurk more often and I knew some people there who were nice, but most of them seemed a bit odd and set in their ways. I'm not surprised they're unaware that Bowie has younger fans, because the environment isn't (or at least, it wasn't when I was lurking) overly friendly to a younger fan. Most of them don't rate Labyrinth as anything but an embarrassment and are scathingly dismissive about younger female fans who discovered Bowie's music through it. They don't "get" fandom in general-- and certainly not fanfiction or fanart. Eventually I drifted away because they seemed happier talking about the stuff they've always talked about and being a ( ... )

I hadn't, thank you! The prospect of a possible concert is very exciting, but he does it in London... *sigh* Flying there would cost an arm and a leg, and it would suck to only go for a few days. NYC would already be tricky enough, really.
