Next chapter is when things get really "interesting" for lack of a better term for poor Georgia!

Excellent update! You're really capturing the essence of the show. And the dog that's a reaper? Brilliant!

You're really capturing the essence of the show.

You can't help but do that when you watch all 29 episodes back to back in the space of like 2-3 days; sort of like how Harve Bennett did Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan after watching all the episodes of TOS....

And the dog that's a reaper? Brilliant!

Well, I imagine that reaping advances to keep up with the times; that's one of the central themes of the show -- that life after death is just like the one we have now -- being undead doesn't mean you escape the wrath of the SCANTRON and having to do paperwork for all your reaps.

I once read a fic involving Mason's first experiences as a reaper in 1966, and they used 3x5 index cards back then instead of post-its...and that was a nice touch, showing how things advanced...

In the old old old days, it was really hard to mangle a body so badly that the reapers couldn't pull a soul from it; but as tech advanced, the need to pop the souls got more and more important -- especially as industrial accidents became more prevalent...

Forgot to add this:

So while the need to pop the souls before the death has become more and more important, so has the problem of doing a lot of people and still remaining in the shadows.

They can't be too obvious in how they pop the souls, because surveillance tech and criminology has also advanced...it can be all too easy for a reaper to be fingered as a serial killing suspect; especially in external influences division....
