So it has been brought to my attention that certain folks are exhibiting symptoms of geekyness. In case you're concerned with what level geek you are (or just want to read some funny panels) I've posted a few clips for you. If you are a novice geek, there's still hope for you to either purge your system of such deviant behavior or see how far the ( Read more... )

hmmm - an interesting challenge... but I think there are many different kinds of geeks. For example, I would consider myself a music geek. I buy new gear to play with in my various bands/projects. As a keyboardist, I really get off on all the techie features of the midi keyboards I am using, and I love programming songs, sequencing and tweaking effects processors, etc.. I'm also a bit of computer/internet hound. When the internet goes down, I pretty much freak out! And with regard to the first question, I would have to wonder where I would fit in --- I'd be the one likely to envision using the foam for sound-proofing a room or something...

So you tell me... personally, I don't mind embracing my geekage;)

You could twist the various questions to apply to your situation. All the pieces of equipment you use probably came in boxes with that foam packaging. And you mentioned you program and tweak songs... perhaps even write some? Can you quickly, instantly, or precognitively spot where a note is going to sound sour? And of course modification... I doubt most of us do this, but how often do you disassemble and reassemble your instruments or equipment? In a new configuration?

See... it could work.

Well there you go. Do you spot foam and immediately think... "somebody just ordered a keyboard" or "This would make a great lego fort."

When you compose, do you have to play something and hear the sour note before you go and correct it or do you know prior to putting anything down on paper whether it's going to sound good (and it does)?

Ever revamped your instruments at all?
