Something was amiss in his usually, peaceful aquarium. Something had his ponies stirred up and it was rather concerning to Aiba.

He walked slowly around the tall glass aquarium, peering through the tall sea grass beds and twining heads of colorful coral, checking carefully in all the crevices.

"Oh! Makino-chan! You're not pregnant anymore!" Aiba exclaimed, pressing his nose to the glass excitedly. "But, who has your babies then?"

***

"Jun!! JUN!!" Sho came careening around the corner of their special rock, swimming as fast as his little fins would propel him. "Jun! Guess what?!" The excited pony shot his tail out to wind around a coral branch, missed, and went flying past his mate.

Jun flicked his tail moodily. "What is it?"

Backpedaling, Sho's eagerness had been unfazed. "There are new algae! Growing on the other side of our rock! Jun…" Sho's babble trailed off as he got a good look at Jun. "What…happened?!"

"I don’t know," Jun groused, running his fins over his extended belly. "That ugly, Makino chick came by earlier. She was going on about how nice the water was and how we should go twirling together." Jun scoffed irritably, "She wouldn't go away until I agreed to twirl with her.” Jun turned to look angrily at Sho, "And then this happened!"

Sho stared in wide-eyed disbelief as Jun pouted at him. "Look how bloated I am! My figure~!"

"Jun…" Sho breathed reverently, swimming towards his mate. "Are you…pregnant??"

Jun looked blankly at Sho for a second before looking down at his protruding pouch. "Huh. Is that what this is?"

Sho gently laid is fins against Jun's pouch, caressing it lightly. "I'm…going to be a daddy?" he whispered in awe, looking up at Jun, his eyes alight with glee.

"Um…yes?" Jun replied, still slightly confused by the turn of events.

"I'M GONNA BE A DADDY!!" Sho erupted loudly, shooting off through the water in excited little loops and twirls. Jun giggled as he watched the older pony dance about in happy abandon. Well, if it made his mate that happy, it couldn't be all that bad.

***

Aiba circled his large aquarium, looking closely through the glass and searching between blades of sea grass and the small, hidden clefts within the corals to find the pregnant male…

“Ah Jun! There you are!” Aiba tapped the glass lightly, “Ehh… why aren’t you with Makino?” Aiba scratched his head, giving the pregnant pony a curious glance. A closer look revealed Jun twining his tail around the same blade of sea grass as his tank mate, who glowed a warm shade of red as he swayed and fluttered his fins excitedly.

“Sho-chan…?” Aiba furrowed his brows in confusion.

This was certainly unusual. Seahorses mated for life, yet Makino was on the other side of the tank, swimming away disinterestedly and going about her usual business while Sho had his tail hooked tightly around Jun’s. Could it be…?

“Ehhh... This is strange!” Aiba pressed his face against the glass, tapping the glass case noisily, “J-Jun? Sho...?”

***

Jun frowned, the vibration from the overexcited tapping rippled through the water and taxed his already frayed nerves. Jun was moody, the babies were making him hormonal and more importantly...

“I'm hungry!” Jun pouted, “I keep eating, I can't control myself! I look like a whale, I feel so ugly!!!” Jun sobbed, sucking noisily through his snout, waiting for more food to arrive.

“Oh no, oh no. What do I do?” Sho skittered around worriedly, his little fins propelling him to the surface as he looked around for bits of shrimp floating past. Sho turned around to face the wall when something rather big caught his attention...

“MONSTER!” Sho squealed as he saw a pair of large eyes peering at him through the glass, its tentacles tapping menacingly.

“Now you're calling me a monster!” Jun sniffed, “You don't love me anymore!”

“No, no, you're not a monster, honey...” Sho tried to soothe his pregnant mate the best way he can while resisting the urge to twist his tail around Jun's and swim hurriedly away, “B-but th-there's a... b-behind you...”

“What?!” Jun grouchily replied, “What's behind me? I'm really, really hungry” Jun was at the verge of hysterics once more.

"It's...” Sho squeaked, sneakily hooking his tail around Jun's and preparing to bolt to the other side of the aquarium.

“I don't think I like this pregnancy thing” Jun pouted, “Why do you look so worried? Stop tugging my tail!” Jun whined, turning around with some difficulty, moving a lot slower because of the added weight. But, soon as he faced the glass, the brown-eyed monster had gone.

“Sho...? There's nothing there” Jun sighed, swimming closer to the glass.

“But, I... it was... its eyes!” Sho sputtered, “There was something really big and it kept tapping the walls with its tentacles!”

“Sho-chan?” Jun hooked his tail around Sho in a reassuring gesture, “The bug-eyed thing you saw was probably our owner... Speaking of which, I wonder when he'll feed us?” Jun rubbed his tummy, “these babies are making me crazy”

As soon as Jun spoke, it rained tiny shrimps inside their aquarium.

“Finally.” Jun smiled, taking in generous amounts of food through his snout.

“I'm sorry for panicking” Sho twined his tail around Jun apologetically.

“You look at your algae too much.” Jun giggled, his appetite sated.

***

Aiba continued to watch over his seahorse aquarium, puzzled by what he was seeing.

Makino had obviously chosen Jun as her mate, to bear her brood, however, both ponies seemed completely oblivious of one another.

It was actually Sho who would greet Jun in the morning and they would spend the day swimming aimlessly around the aquarium, wheeling happily around blades of seagrass, and guzzling down shrimp together during feeding time.

Could it be…

Aiba sat watching the two happy males, tails linked, as they made their daily stroll around "their rock."

"I think my ponies are gay…" he said with a giggle.

***

"Nino says I look like a whale!" Jun whined as he and Sho went on their daily stroll. "He says I'm going to get so fat, I won't fit in the aquarium, and I'll have to be moved!"

Sho scoffed. "Nino is just jealous of how beautiful you look. You're radiant!"

Jun looked hesitant to want to accept the reassurance, but couldn't stop his giggle when Sho tugged his tail playfully. "You're right. Someone ought to get him knocked up, the brat."

Jun stopped suddenly, a sharp pain ripping through his belly. "Jun, hun, you ok?" Sho asked, swimming back to where Jun had stopped.

The pregnant pony frowned, rubbing his swollen pouch. "Pain in my tummy," he whimpered, causing Sho to flutter around anxiously. "Must've been the shrimp we had earlier…"

"Are you sure? Are you sure you're ok?" Sho was abuzz in barely contained panic. "What about the babies?? Are the babies ok?!"

"I'm fine; they're fine! We're all fine. It must've been gas," Jun said reassuringly. He wrapped his tail back around his mates and tugged impatiently. "Hurry up; the next feeding should be soon. I want to get a good place or Oh-chan will eat all the good shrimp."

Sho looked alarmed. "You think that monster will be there again?"

Jun sighed, “Stop worrying about the monster. I told you, he's the...Ow!”

“Jun? Are you sure you're okay”

“It hurts...” Jun's face scrunched up in pain, his tail shooting out to twine with the nearest coral.

“Sho...” Jun looked down at his pouch where the tiniest hint of a tail began to protrude.

“Oh! Oh! It's the babies, they're coming out” Sho swam closer to Jun, and tried helping the baby out by pulling on its tail..

“Babies??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BABIES?! OW STOP THAT!” the little seahorse heaved, trying to push his little ones out.

“Okay...” Sho squeaked and retreated, watching helplessly while Jun pushed, his cheeks filling up with air as he heaved.

***

Aiba crouched in front of his aquarium, absorbed with the view in front of him. Jun was about to give birth, around him were the other seahorses who seemed equally fascinated as they watched Jun, with his tail twined tightly around one of the corals, trying to push the babies out.

Aiba watched, as a small tail wriggled out of Jun's pouch.

“Aww... Jun, you're a daddy!” The hobbyist exclaimed, taking out his video camera to record the moment.

****

The aquarium's other inhabitants swam towards the couple when they heard Jun screech. Several seahorses gathered round the pair and watched in awe as Jun started birthing his fourth baby.

“Aaah! My babies!” Makino exclaimed.

“They're not your babies you ugly whale!” Jun hissed as he pushed his fifth baby out.

Nino whimpered as the sixth little fry popped into the water. “...Oh man, what have I gotten myself

into...” he whispered in wide-eyed horror, patting his own distended belly.

“Wow, Jun, that's a lot!” Ohno swam closer, peering at the little tail that peeked out.

“Shut up you ugly sea cow!” Jun screamed at Ohno as the brood grew to eight.

In his quiet little corner, Sho started counting the little babies swimming about...

“ 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... We have 9 babies!” Sho exclaimed.

“Oh... good. “ Jun slumped, his tail untangling itself from the coral; the tired daddy looking dazedly at the babies swimming around him

“Ahh, they're so cute!” Becky cooed, cheerily bouncing up and down. “Hi babies!!”

“What do we name them?” Sho asked, hooking his tail around his mates.

“I dunno... how about--”

“Hey Say Jump.” Ohno blurted out.

“NYC Boys!” Makino chirped.

“Where do you get those names? You guys are terrible.” Jun sighed, nearly falling asleep. Sho giggled as he pulled his exhausted mate towards their rock, nudging him when they got there. Instinctively, Jun's tail released Sho's and wrapped around the rock face. He was fast asleep in moments.

***

"Babies!" Aiba exclaimed gleefully, dancing excitedly around the tank as he tried to count them all. "I better move them; they might get sucked into the filter..."

***

"M-MONSTER!!!" Sho squealed in fright as the hobbyist's distorted face appeared at the top of their tank.

"The babies!!....But, Jun!! ...But, the babies!!!" He swan in panicked circles, finally racing back to his mate with an anguished cry. "JUN!! WAKE UP!! JUN!!"

"Whaat?! I'm sleeping!" Jun growled crankily. He opened his eyes with great effort, ready to let his mate have it, but cried out in alarm a moment later. "Watch out!!!"

**

Using a soft net, Aiba gently scooped out the babies one by one, and deposited them in their own little aquarium.

"Wow, Jun! 8 babies! Not bad for your first brood!" he exclaimed, examining the little ones.

"Awww...they're so cute!"

***
The (very) danger was gone, for now.

The ponies cautiously emerged from their hiding places, calling to each other shakily.

A screech echoed through the aquarium. "MY BABIES~!!!!!!!!!"

All the horses swam towards the hysterical cries to find Sho darting anxiously to and fro; checking between rock crevices, behind coral branches, and in the sea grass. He swam back anxiously to where everyone had gathered around the forlorn daddy. "I..can't...find them..." he said at a complete loss. "They're gone...."

Jun looked on the verge of a bloody warpath, when a tiny voice piped up. "Daddy?"

All heads spun this way and that, looking for the source. Sho made a startled exclamation when the voice popped up next to him. "Daddy?"

Sho's eyes watered as he looked down at the little fry. "Hi...little one...that's your daddy too!" he said, ushering him towards Jun.

"Daddy?"

Jun's eyes watered as he looked at the little seahorse; he wiped his eyes quickly, hoping no one saw. "Hi there, little guy," he cooed, reaching gently to hold him in his fins. The tiny pony giggled happily, swimming in erratic little circles, before bumping gracelessly into Ohno.

Sho swam over to Jun and hooked his tail with his mates. "He's beautiful, sweetheart," he said, as they watched their baby swim ecstatically around Ohno. "What do you want to name him?"

Jun watched as the little baby bounded happily around the older seahorse, much to Ohno's amusement; Nino glowered darkly nearby. "Let's name him, Chinen."
