I think XP is better to do serious work on than Vista. I hated waiting for the swishy crap to finish when I just want to load a project.

Huh, that's odd.

I know for a while Dell did (or perhaps still is doing) the inverse - you get XP preinstalled, but since MS doesn't want anyone to use XP anymore you get a Vista license and reinstall CD (so if you have to reinstall or your HD dies you have to use Vista).
