"Illegal" in much the same way as posting the infamous AACS encryption key for HD-DVD is illegal.
However, considering that the information here is listed on their own site, I'm not sure why posting about it has been discouraged.

The official releases look worse than the bootlegs, and have worse subtitles.
Now extrapolate from that the actual quality of the official releases.
When I get back to Singapore, I am importing all my anime from the US. As far as I know, there isn't a law against that... yet.

What's all the hype about Nanoha? Am I behind the moe times by not having gotten into it yet?

Mostly it's popular for having cute girls unleash overpowered beams of destruction (Nanoha, for example, can vapourize a building easily, and she's not even the most powerful character, although she's probably second place among the main characters). It provides action and excitement and flashy explosions, plus cute moe eye-candy. (There's not much fanservice, but what there is tends to be concentrated, mainly in the nude transformation sequences ( ... )
