So Christmas will be coming a little late for Cory and I, but it should be here by Friday since my financial aid has been disbursed woooo! Cory and I will be shopping for our livingroom this time around ^_^ Which also means we have to rearrange things. We'll likely be investing in the following: 52" lcd flatscreen TV, XBox 360 Elite, Rock Band 2 ( Read more... )

Not to rain on your parade or anything, and more power to you if that stuff makes you happy, but the following thought occurred:

My fiance has a 6-figure salary. My salary is half his salary. And even we don't have a 52" lcd flatscreen, xbox, rock band or surround sound speakers.

Why the heck are you getting all of that stuff if you have financial difficulties that stress you out and make you upset all the time? You write all the time how stressed you are...is it that these items are going to make you any less stressed about money?

And don't get mad that I'm pointing this out...you know my heart is in the right place.

Cause the money isn't going to aleve our situation other then paying off the credit card debt which it will do as well as this other stuff. That and taking care of my car. Stuff never makes it better really just distracts you. I'd invest some of it if I knew how, but I don't. I won't be less stressed about money till we have a stable income. I've thought about maybe investing in other things like musical stuff instead because that is at least constructive. Don't know I guess we'll see what we choose to do ^_^

Not to be too harsh, but...uh, there's this crazy newfangled thing called a "savings account." You don't need to be an investment genius to save money. A 52" TV is, frankly, crazy. I'm a total gadget nerd and I don't have a 52" TV. I'd rather have that money stashed someplace for the next major crisis. Get a 37" TV for half the money and save a grand for when your car needs fixing again or when the kid has an unexpected doctor bill.

Also, not to be pedantic, but isn't financial aid technically supposed to be for educational purposes?
