i'm not sure that i wish to become poly, but this article reminded me of what it felt like to be friends with a woman with whom you shared a mate. there definitely was a different level of intimacy/friendship/connection there...
It's worth pointing out that bonobos are only one kind of monkey. There are many other monkeys (some of which are more closely related to us) that take very different approaches to sexual freedom and exclusivity.
And I always think it's hilarious when people equate tantra to sex. I do a form of yoga that's very based in tantric philosophy, and there's no sex involved. Lots and lots of helping each other do handstands, but no sex. :-)
Thanks for saying that - I'm pretty tired of hearing the whole "we're so close genetically to bonobos" and then implying that bonobo behavior is our nature.
