These are compromises people make to live in Manhattan. I am so glad I live in Queens!

There are a few lucky souls like my sister and brother in law, who have found spacious apartments in Harlem.  But one of my reasons not to move from Queens is that I don't have to make this kind of compromises!  I have a rather spacious studio I am happy to live in!

A couple weren't bad at all. :)

Some people are smart enough to make the most of the small space. I am not one of them. :)

Peace!

I agree with the above poster. Some were somewhat decent, they used the limited space pretty efficiently.

I sucks that all those big old cities have those tiny apartments, and they are still pretty expensive considering the space they offer. Paris is just as bad, they have the tiniest apartments, and still cost a fortune.

You know, when I read the last lines of your comment, I remembered that I was watching a French movie with a couple of classmates, and she mentioned the same thing. There were these supposedly mid-to-low class people living in an apartment that my friend told me that a family like them could not afford in real life. Same thing happens in Manhattan a lot.

That's why there are some of us with enough common sense to live in other boroughs of New York City. My studio is quite spacious. My boyfriend also preferred to head to Jersey City, where he rents a one bedroom apartment.

Peace!
