I think it was more "If you happen to be looking for a job and your credit is terrible, because credit scores are within the sphere of a background check, you might have a hard time finding a job that allows you to retain any shred of self-respect."

But yeah. Still lame.

This. For some stupid reason there are employers out there who think your credit score is a viable gauge of what kind of worker you'll be.

There are employers out there that think you credit score is a viable gauge of how likely you are to steal from them to try to cover your debts.

Or is a viable gauge of the potential liability of a bad actor purchasing your debt and then leaning on you for inside information.

Bad credit will invalidate most legitimate security clearances.

This is nowhere near the worst of them.

American Express is airing a commercial now basically telling people if they travel and use a card other than AMEX that someone's going to be shoving their fist up their ass to look for contraband.
