Crash Love/AFI review

Oct 03, 2009 13:33

While not my ZOMG!! favourite band in the world, AFI comes in a very close second - just behind My Chemical Romance, though perhaps my reasons for liking MCR are a little different - and personally, I feel that they are much better, musically and lyrically, than MCR.

I'll be the first to admit that my favourite album by AFI was Sing The Sorrow, ( Read more... )

Review of interactive album booklet (for itunes download) blackwell_davey October 3 2009, 21:23:54 UTC
It's interesting that Adam and I have very different opinions when it comes to purchasing music/albums. Although I prefer free music (ljmixtape, my brothers bday gift of the subscription to emusic.com earlier this year) I also stopped buying cd's a long time ago. If I can find it on itunes (assuming I can't find it for free) I'll purchase it there. It's not only cheaper, but as I learned with Crash/Love, it has crazy special features!! The only exception I've found, honestly, is the movies. Granted, I've only bought two movies on itunes (The Village and Twilight( as well as a handful of eps from Doctor Who, Project Runway, and Lost), there are no special features like on real DVDs ( ... )

Moving along, I decide to click on

Davey. Each of the four band members are listed, and each one has his own fun things going on. Davey features written word, an audio recitation (it sounds like a journal or prose of some sort). There is also a video of our favorite 'little goth girl' talking while standing in front of some sort of cabinet in a break room. Honestly folks, I stopped paying attention to what he was saying because I became fascinated by his looks. The entire time it played, I continuously shouted out to Adam, calling out "HOLY CRAP HE LOOKS LIKE JARED FUCKING LETO!!!" from my studio. Sporting a hairstyle that brings my mind right back to the 90s, the absence of the glitter cosmetics and a bit of facial hair not only made Davey seem a decade younger, but fucking hot. Okay, so he's always been hot, but now he's MY kind of hot. Holy shit...I nearly chewed my hand off ( ... )

Jade. Jade..Jade...Jade. Despite you getting rid of the skunk Jade-hawk, we still love you in every way, shape, and form. Jade features his own written prose, and a video I had once seen before over on his blog, shyboyswin. Called "We Write II", its him and Davey (not me, damn it) in silhouette as they jam on writing some songs. Its very classy, in my opinion, but I'm wondering where exactly this was shot. The curtains makes it look like my Grandmum's weekend cottage. Jade also has his own track list, but the best bit is the heart over his chest on his photo. Clicking it gives us a guitar version of the Torch Song (not found on Adam's cd, HA!)

Moving right along...

Hehehe! I remember the Clandestine thing, but I sadly never got a copy of it, so I wasn't as obsessed with finding out about it (mainly because I really didn't know a whole lot of what was going on with the Clandestine book). I DO remember hearing about Glitterboy, and I think probably the reason I don't mind the glitter line in This Celluloid Dream as much is because there was so much going on in that song, and it didn't stand out quite so much ( ... )
