We just bought beaucoup camping equipment! We are now equipped to camp. I'm so excited! The kids did what any kids would do and insisted that they be allowed to sleep in their sleeping bags forthwith. I'm very excited about our new adventure. I never liked camping much. I think it was just the...inconvenience of it all. You know, maybe if I go out with a lady friend to the beach and just sleep there for a night, cool. But actual full blown camping? Eh...unless I'm hunting I'm just not down for that.

But there's fishing and hiking and small children...What could go wrong? ;)

I enjoy being out-of-doors and tromping about the countryside and eating my food with a bit of soot in it.

I think it's the inconvenience coupled with the amount of preparation involved, which are kind of one and the same. And then all the money. I'd rather just have a blanket and a cooler full of beer.

I think that there is something about camping with your kids - maybe it's the togetherness without wordly distractions, but I remember every camping trip I went on as a child and then with my own children. Of course, at the time, there's lots of complaining about bugs and the hard ground, but when everyone's snuggled in for the night, together as a family in a tent, there's a secure feeling that can't be beat.
