I tend to like to see what the reccer likes about the story. Not just "it's good, because it's in character" or whatever, but, "it's good, because it makes me feel/reminds me/made me think..."
My favorite recs always tell me as much about the reccer as the story, you know?
Yeah, I like to get upclosepersonalandcosy with the reviewer as well. Which I think I've done in the past and is the one thing I wouldn't change because, hey, me *not* talk(type) too much once I've got going? Doesn't happen unless the power goes out.
pairing (if there is one) premise rating (so if I'm looking for smut or looking to avoid smut, I can) length (one-shot versus multipart, 10k versus 1,000K, etc) completeness
Pairing I always remember (it's part of how I organize my notes), and WIP/complete usually gets remembered too, though I've screwed up a few times and forgotten to add the WIP note because I was falling asleep).
Premise ... yes. I want to know something about what the story is about.
And I get kinda link-happy sometimes. "It's here ... and here ... and here ... and here's the LJ name of the author ... oh, and there's some stuff on this archive by her/him too...." ::weeps at memory of old bookmarks file wiped out by computer crash::
I keep forgetting to include length in my comments. Unless it's a short piece (because it's unusual for me to read short pieces, so thus comment-worthy).
pairing, completeness (I won't read WsIP except under very specific circs), an explanation of *why* you liked something, and maybe an excerpt. Also, warnings for some of the er, more outre kinks (incest, rape, bloodplay), because I'm Vanilla Girl and tend to avoid certain types of darkness.

And if you are really ambitious: if the recs point to stories in a archive, it's also nice to have a link to the author's web site, if any.
