I went to GenCon last week! For those of you who don't know, GenCon is the (inter)national board and Roleplaying games convention. There are easilly 5,000 nerds present, I'll have to check on the official numbers. It's like the Hajj. I'm insanely jealous. And pirate socks! That's the kicker. I had tried to see about getting work off to come, but it was more hectic than I figured because I am technically not allowed vacation for 6 months. However, Ann is after me for GenCali and we'll see if I can make that... especially if there are attractive people and pirate socks.

The pirate socks are worth it. And I can only imagine that GenCon in California is even crazier because it doesn't take place in the midwest.

You should post photos of said socks so I can strengthen my commitment to obtaining them for myself. The bonus of California is also getting to be near the ocean again. Of course, now that I think about it, I can be at the shore in just under an hour's drive. Too bad they aren't having one in Atlantic City, but I suppose that's a different kind of gaming.

GenCon rocked! I'm sad I didn't get to be there longer, but it was really cool to see all the events going on and stuff. I think I spent most of the time wandering around the merchandise hall, and I still didn't see everything in there! But I got a giant foam d20 and a set of shiny new dice plus a d5 that this guy was convinced I needed for magic missile, so I'm content. So did you get an award of any sort for ranking so high in the D&D for cash event? Sorry I kept missing you guys, saturday evening we ended up helping our old boss with cardhalla, and sunday we wandered the merchhall once more and then had to drive home. Were you saying something about a dodgeball game between the shadowrun and whitewolf guys?? Or did my brain make that up, I couldn't hear very well. I'm definitely looking forward to the california GenCon, I plan to try a ton of games next time. You should come!

Sadly we never found the white-wolf shadowrun dodgeball game. On sunday before we left we did find a sign apparently marking the pickup point for the "White Wolf Party Shuttle" Next time I won't leave it up to Lull to find a party.

Ooo a D5? I don't know how that works. Is it barrel shaped?

I'll look into GC Californya
