For My Friends Who Watch The Amazing Race

I discovered that there's an Israeli version: "HaMerotz LaMillion" which, my dad informed me, translates to "Race for the Million." Here's the opening credit sequence:

As an Israeli-American, I find myself oddly proud that Israel is apparently full of really hot people ( Read more... )

I can identify all the "types." The hot best-girl-friends, the "wacky" team, the couple with issues...

And I thought the new episode looked promising. The team I hated most was eliminated first. The stuntman brothers look like they have the potential to advance the image of little people at least as far as Charla and Mirna set it back. The mom and deaf son are appropriately heart-warming. Oh, and my money's on the brother-sister lawyer team.

I mostly agree, though I hadn't really worked up to hating the bickering couple; I just found them annoying. Also, the mom and deaf kid did not warm my heart, which is made of coal inside a block of titanium-coated ice. I'm already sick of the "I just want to show that deaf people are just as capable as everyone else" narrative. First, I already saw it on Survivor, and second, it was annoying when it was Charla showing the world that little people can be just as unlikeable as everyone else.

I actually saw two, maybe three teams that would qualify as the hot best-girl-friends team, and I couldn't tell which of the couple's teams had issues. I did pick out the wacky team, the young alpha male team, and the somewhat older married couple team pretty easily (no senior citizen team though).

Oh, also, I followed one of the links at the end of the video and watched the first two minutes of the first episode. It was subtitled, so I could understand what was being said. It's done just like the American version, same editing, same dramatic camera-work, and of course, it has it's own version of Phil.

Why should you be surprised that Israel is full of hotties when you are, in fact, a hottie from Israel?

Didn't say I was surprised.
