I love you...and this is FAN-EFFING-TASTIC!!! You've turned me on to Sparrington (where the hell have I been?) only YOU could have done this.

I love the language, the snark, the unabashed lust...and this:

Jack leans backward into darkness, and once again the light offers magic, bars of motley colour to dance across his chest and a shadow to veil his eyes. The smirk below tempts Norrington’s fist, but rum soothes the impulse - another pull on the bottle, and he begins the tale.

There's the appeal. Right there.

I loved their scenes together in COTBP and DMC, and I've always wanted to write Sparrington. The line you picked out is an allusion to Christie's Mr. Quin, one of my favorite characters in her work :-)

What are you trying to do to me, woman?? As dubious as I am about Jack/Norrington, I have a feeling I'm going to be a little Sparrington whore by the end of this fic. Such amazing Jack descriptions (of course we already know you do those so well *g*) and the idea of James slowly succumbing to his charms is superbly done.

And I love love love that Jack knows what his cheekbones look like in candlelight! That is just a perfect touch! (also *guh*). And the 'sordid god' description - also perfect!

I have more to say but I'm rushing off to work now, so will come back for a second read and a longer comment later :)

Of course Jack is aware of the influence of candlelight *g* I know you're uncertain about the J/N, but I appreciate you bearing with me. I've always wanted to write Sparrington but I've only done one other fic with them together, and that was J/E/N.
