I should be doing other things.

But I'll get to them eventually.

I got up earlier than usual today - couldn't sleep, so I got up.  It was strange to have finished the coffee and the New York Times before noon.

Went skiing in the evening. I wiped out catching an edge and was thankful for my helmet - thunk!  No weirdness with the legs, though, they went straight out ( ( Read more... )

...and it's not like I have it in abundance
I don't know
how to let things go
or happen

But I noticed
sometimes it's but a matter of recognition
that something is not yet done
the job not quite completed

This recognition itself motivates me
to act with more patience
to finish the task

Then I repeat, and repeat again
untill it becomes my nature
something no need to think about again
By the way, to share something with you about which I should probably make a post on my lj. The day I became a pack leader was the day when I taught Sappho (and Molly) to stop chasing trucks and cars ( ... )

I'm so glad she doesn't chase cars anymore. You're a good pack leader. I could learn something from your example.

I knew you'd be able to relate to it and maybe even appreciate it, too. I'm really proud of this part of me being a pack leader. It was not easy, for sure. In fact, I think about it in terms of "the day I became a pack leader was the day when I thought my dogs not to chase cars." (BTW, I realize that what I've just said is ego in action. But fuck it!! I say it in the spirit of -- if even I can do it, anyone can do it.)

The key to unlock the door was one episode of Cesar when I finally saw with a complete clarity that he is very patient with dogs. In particular, he always finishes what he starts. For example, when he tells the dog to lay down and relax, he stays with it untill they are COMPLETELY down and relaxed. I was not so thorough in the past. I would let Sappho of the hook when she was kind of laying down (but still twiching, still having some ideas in her doggish mind). Once I started to finish my jobs, everything else fell at place. That's when they stopped chasing cars and going into dunes ( ... )

I think it's a great idea. There are a lot of people who would appreciate the message of all that. The world's too busy of a place and we lose track of what's important far too easily.
