I also liked the Count of Monte Cristo! I own that movie! I will pull it out and watch it again, but I admit I don't remember him. He really is an unknown actor, which is what I expected WB to do, considering their building a franchise.
Well, looking around LJ, everyone is mixed about the casting, which surprises me because I know nothing about this guy so I don't really have an opinion about him.
Compared to Routh back in 2004, Cavill has done a lot more work. Also, his name was mentioned as being in the running even back then so I am certainly aware of the actor. I will miss Routh and I feel bad for him. I know he will be graceful about it, and I wish Cavill the best of luck. I will follow the movie's progress with interest and try not to judge too harshly too soon! ;)
I was a little amazed, too. I could see him in the part, it's just that they've never cast one of you guys in the role. I had to raise an eyebrow at that, but Henry's a pretty good character actor. I've seen him in several indies and I approve, even if I feel slighted for poor Brandon.

Hey I'm British and *I*raised my eyebrow at it! (I don't want an English sounding Superman - in the words of Spacey's Lex Luthor that would be WRRRONG!) Technically though Superman is not even human never mind nationality!
I feel so sad for Brandon, possibly more than he does himself LOL! I know he loves the character and that he will be graceful and wish nothing but the best for the new guy.
