Catherine Tate as Dr. Who's companion in the next series! Didn't see that one coming! Pleased though as I'm a fan of both equally :) Saw Catherine Tate interviewing David Tennant for Radio earlier this year and they had a great rapport together :)

And yay for BBC2 listings! Heroes will be screening on BBC2 this summer - I want to see what all ( Read more... )

I was in the middle of doing a comment to you and it vanished so apologies if you get this twice. Anyway I have just seen that somebody has already started an LJ comm for Tate's character, unbelievably quick and unbelievable how much time people have on their hands. When I first saw the news (David emailed me the link) I was like "OMFG" and my colleague Sarah thought something serious had happened, lol. I think it will be interesting but we'll wait and see.

David and I will most likely watch Heroes on BBC2, when it was on sci fi it clashed with something else and at one point seemed to be on every day. When you say you want to see it with subtitles is that because you are deaf? If so that is a new fact about you I have learned today.

Saw some parts of the first series of Hyperdrive and wasn't overly impressed. In fact most weeks I fell asleep.

They show Red Dwarf on UK Gold a lot.

LOL! wow! that is quick! And yes deaf - though not completely. Have been from birth so have worn hearing aid from the age of about 5 or 6. I do ok, though and I get by with using a hearing aid and lipreading. I don't actually know any sign language and in the case of TV I always use subtitles. I can follow without them but its double the effort and can be difficult when a character talks off screen (happens more than you'd think) so if I had the choice I would use the subtitles. Am quite passionate about them and the BBC well and truely lead the way with the subtitling coverage. As does Channel 4 but its the same company doing both channels hence why :)

Sadly I haven't got UK Gold :( I should just go and buy the DVDs really for Red Dwarf Am gonna give Hyperdrive a chance - am hoping my ridiculous love for the likes of Nick Frost and Kevin Eldon as both seen in Hot Fuzz will carry over to this show. Eldon's hialarious in Big Train series as well. :)

It's worth giving Hyperdrive a chance, not everyone likes the same things.

That's interesting you didn't learn sign language. I always assumed all deaf/partially deaf people learn when they are children.

I think that's a natural assumption and even deaf people who see my hearing aid have stopped me in the street and assumed I sign - I'm always slightly embaressed and have to shrug my shoulders and indicate 'no, sorry, no idea what your trying to tell me', although they've always been totally understanding about it. The correct medical term is hard of hearing so I *can* hear - even without my hearing aid I can hear, its just I can't hear as well as most people. In my case I was already going to a 'normal' school and coping. As long as academically I didn't suffer my parents (and I assume the doctors) were keen for me to keep going in that direction. Ironically I think I missed out (and still do) more socially than academically. Missing jokes/quips because you've not heard them or by the time you've figured out what was just said the moments gone for you to come back with another quip that might be funny - stuff like that - so annoying!
