Depressed For a Very Good Reason

With the exception of my DJ mixes etc, I don't think I've ever before posted the exact same blog entries in multiple places (for eg here and Facebook, although I spread stuff upon & from the Church of Virus BBS sometimes). I'm not implying that it's bad when people do, I just tend to try to mix it up. But I think this is an important read and ( Read more... )

I think the only part I disagree with (and that, only partially) is the bit at the end - the notion that somehow fixing society is what will fix a person's depression. I think that maybe for some people, working to cure what ails society may help ease their own hurts, but it's hardly a cure-all for depression itself.

Otherwise I think the post touches on a lot of important points, even for people who are seriously mentally ill. It's important to remember that no matter what has caused your problems, no matter why you're in the dark place you're in, you have the responsibility to get yourself out. There's always something a person can do to make their life better, no matter how it got broken (mental illness or life circumstances) in the first place.
