I know, I know. I don't normally post actual fic here anymore. I've been sitting on this story for a while, for no apparent reason. But, with it being dear elrhiarhodan's birthday today, I thought this might make a good present.

So, thank you, m'dear, for all the hours of enjoyment you give us with your lovely White Collar stories. My days would be infinitely less interesting without you.

A little birdie whispered in my ear that this fic is for me - so THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's perfect - I love Bancroft. I love how clear-eyed his character is, a trait that you've so perfectly replicated here. I always wish they'd bring him back and without Hughes, there's such a gaping hole (Calloway has to go, sorry). He'd be perfect for a few episodes a season.\

Ah, well - if wishes were horses...

Again, thank you so very much!

I'm so glad you liked it! I wasn't sure you'd like this, because it's not very P/E/N, despite the fact that I've labeled it such, but it seems I hit on just the right note anyway.

You're welcome and happy birthday!

This is great! I love how we start expecting one reaction from Bancroft and end up someplace completely different.

Bancroft is sneaky like that. I loved the idea of Peter going into the office expecting a reprimand or some kind of dire warning, and finding an unexpected ally instead.

I'm glad you liked it!

Oh, this is so wonderful \o/ I love it how they understand each other without saying the actual words, just navigating between the lines :D And awww, poor Peter, the mere thought of anything happening to Neal is unbearable. You can tell he loves him so much

Love this! Thank you :D

I'm glad you liked it! I thought that someone like Bancroft would know the value of being circumspect. I think what resonated with me in that episode was the speed with which the relationship has developed between Peter and Neal, and just how important Neal had become in such a short time. It's one of the reasons I love the show so much (obviously).

It's nice to see Bancroft as the positive influence for N/P as opposed to what we got later with Kramer negative vibes. How everything is "never" said but it's loud and clear.

Yeah, I wanted to give Peter and Neal an ally without it being too overt. Not everyone at the Bureau would understand their relationship, but someone who's been there would definitely get it. Bancroft was that person for me.

I'm glad you liked it!
