Mei Application
Mei Chan is starving. The young girl sits hunched in her train seat, holding her growling stomach, until she notices that the train is no longer moving. Distant cries of "Central City~ You are now in Central City~" reaches her ears, and she jumps up.
"We're here, Xiao Mei!" she shouts in glee. The tiny panda on her shoulder mimics her excitement. With newfound energy, Mei dashes out of the train and through the station, calling out "Excuse me!" "Pardon me!" with her cute, accented-voice all the way.
Then finally, she's outside. The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day, and as she continues running, everything becomes slow motion until her strength finally gives out. Mei Chan collapses in the middle of the street, face down, and lies there for several hours.
Mickey coughs theatrically. "'What is your name?'"
"Mmmwhah?" Mei weakily looks up, only to see a giant mouse talking to her. She's not too surprised; she hadn't heard of there being any giant mice in Amestris, but if there were midget pandas in Xing, why not? Xiao Mei, for her part, stares up at Mickey in awe.
"Mei Chan..." Mei finally answers.
"What is your quest?" asks the Cat. It's perched, suddenly, on the roof of one of the gate-stiles.
Xiao Mei suddenly spots a discarded bag of fluffy white edible things, and drags it over to Mei, who devours it at once. Her mouth full, Mei replies with renewed energy, "I am on a quest to find the Way of Immortality!"
"'What is the average w..?'" Mickey frowns down at the notebook. "You know, I don't really see why that's important." He flips a page. "'If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?'"
Setting the empty bag aside, Mei thinks for a moment. "I would wish for my clan to become prosperous! And that I could meet Edward-sama!"
Mei then remembers the reason that she came to Central City in the first place- to find the famous State Alchemist, Edward Elric! Eyes sparkling, she starts daydreaming of herself and Edward-sama having a romantic walk in the park, before remembering to finish the question. "And...for the Great Desert to become an oasis!"
She needn't wish for True Love or a happy marriage; she knew those would come naturally upon meeting Edward-sama.
Mickey looks rather nonplused at the next, but reads, "'When the revolution comes, what skills will you be able to barter for food?'"
Ohhh, he must mean the revolution in Xing when it becomes time to choose the new emperor! Mei had been preparing for that time for many years, so she answers without hesitation. "I will have my alchemy and my martial arts!"
The Cat rolls its eyes in a friendly (and rather disconcertingly out-of-sync) way, and asks, "Milk, dark, or white chocolate?"
Mei had never had chocolate before. She must remember to ask Edward-sama to buy her some! "Milk chocolate!" Xiao Mei starts salivating.
"'Choose the two coolest: robots, pirates, fairies, bears, ninjas, monkeys, vampires, or humans,'" says Mickey, giggling a bit as he goes through the list. "'Explain.'"
Mei has seen ninjas in real life, and those weren't good experiences. So she replies, "Fairies and pirates! I've heard of them many times in my books about Amestris!"
"Great!" Mickey flips through the blank pages of the notebook at top, cartoon-y speed. "Well, I think that's just about it! Oh, and I'm supposed to ask, 'for your safety: are you carrying anything sharp?'"
"Oh, yes!" Cheerfully, Mei reaches into her sleeves and pulls out several sharp daggers.
