The Master wasn't sure if the Rani checked her mail, so the day after his encounter with Samuel Winchester an envelope appeared on the doorstep of her TARDIS.

Inside there was a vial of blood and a note:

Oh my darling, dearest, light of my life, whose intellect constantly astounds and amazes even the lowliest of creatures in this Rassilon ( Read more... )

A little after midday of the day on which she received the vial of blood, the Rani put a very brief note in the post addressed to the person who she correctly guessed had left her such a fascinating and troubling problem.

The Master ventured into Tomorrowland with a definite spring in his step. That the Rani would chose not to come to the City Hall was not much of a surprise; he wouldn't have enjoyed her showing up at an inopportune time either, nevermind how amusing her discomfort would be.

He knocked of the door of her TARDIS. Because he might as well start out polite, considering the help she was giving him (even if it was only due to her decidedly un-Gallifreyan curiosity).

The door opened and she gestured him inside, closing it behind him firmly and throwing the triple-encryption deadlock seal.

"Where did you get it?" she asked, naturally without any kind of small talk to start. Which he no doubt enjoyed, riling her curiosity like that, but damn it, the whole thing was too bizarre to waste time on niceties.

"And hello to you to," the Master said with a grin, stepping into the console room. Unfortunately, unlike the Doctor's TARDIS, there was no place to sit in the Rani's console room. She never had set much by comfort.

So she would have to deal with him leaning against the console. Which might make her twitchy, but... well, that was the point. "From a fascinating young man who displayed a certain talent for mental resistance. Nineteen questions left; better make them good."
