He woke up to the sounds of her crying. It was an odd thing to wake to, especially as he had reached for her in his half-slumber to rouse her and hold her to him. Instead when he raised his head and searched for his dear Margot he found her at the foot of their bed, absolutely wracked with tears. "Margot! Oh Margot, why are you crying, dearest? Wipe those tears now, no more sadness." Percy sat up and attempted to untangle himself from his bedsheets.

But she had gone and turned his ring, and thus his identity was exposed. That little pimpernel seal glittered up from his ring and his eyes grew large and suddenly very much alarmed. No wonder the tears. "No, no, Marguerite, I've never hated you. Never, not for one moment!" Percy reached out to touch her shoulder, but he knew she'd find little comfort in the gesture.
