Stake out time (Open later)

Jun 27, 2008 13:49

Setsuna felt it had been enough time for Duck to get settled in, and he was bored, yet again, so the day was deemed perfect for a special stake out attempt. He honestly didn't think they'd find anything, but it would be worth it to try. And still, one could never know ( Read more... )

Cayce raised an eyebrow at Setsuna's letter, but hey-whatever the kid wanted to do. And who knew; there could be some useful information gleaned.

She played a few games of pinball, and then it finally occurred to her to go look outside the theatre to see if Setsuna was there.

Setsuna was a bit surprised to see Cayce instead of a letter later on, but he grinned anyway. Visiting was always appreciated.

"Hey there!" he called out with a wave. "That bored are you?" Then again, he couldn't blame anyone. The games, radio shows, exploring and rides were only entertaining for so long.

no worries. ^_^ caycep June 27 2008, 19:15:24 UTC
"Well, you know. Had to take a break from my packed schedule, but I figured this merited a little time off." She grinned. "So since you're here, want me to go send you something? Or should I wait for Duck to show up?"

"Ha!" Setsuna laughed at that, but smiled fondly. "Go ahead and wait for Duck to show up. I'm sure she won't be much longer anyway. She should get to watch since this was also her idea."

Duck had been checking her mailbox every few hours; sometimes looking inside, other times just poking it to see what would happen.

Setsuna,

Yup, I'm doing fine! I even met a goddess, would you believe? There really are a lot of different people here! I know that kind of thing would never happen at home; probably because any goddess who turned up at Gold Crown would rather meet the Advanced Class, like my friend Rue than me, but I think mostly because there aren't any real gods and goddesses. Or maybe there are, but they're the quiet type.

Anyway! I've found a place in Critter Country, and you're welcome to come visit! It's hidden pretty well, but if you just stand by the big lake and call for me I'll turn up.

Okay! I'll be right there - sorry if I take a little while, I'll probably get lost, I'm not great at reading maps - and then we'll start our mission! I'll bring a picnic or something!

- Duck xIt did take her quite a while to reach the theatre, and when she did so she was walking backwards, glancing between the street and her ( ... )

Setsuna figured a reply was useless, but he read the entire letter and grinned. Duck seemed so happy and full of life - she was fun to be around, even if she was a little silly. Made her all the more interesting.

He decided to keep in mind he could find her in Critter Country, mused over which goddess it was that Duck met, and thought a picnic was a damn good idea.

When she showed up, Setsuna ended up doubled over in laughter. He wasn't trying to be mean, but still.... Between his laughter, he called out, "You okay?" and headed over to her to make sure she was all right.

"Is any of the food still in tact? If not, we can just get more. There's lots of food places around here.

"O-oh, yeah." Duck gave a nervous little laugh and waved her hand. "This, um. Happens. A lot. I'm really pretty clumsy, especially for a ballerina. But I'll get better!" She jumped to her feet and adopted a very determined stance. "I'll be a better ballerina, I know it! I should never give up and say 'I can't do anything' because it simply isn't true! ... Sorry," she added after a pause. "I, um, got a bit carried away."

She looked down at the bag she'd packed with any food she'd been able to recognise that was travel-friendly. Duck gingerly took a peek inside and sighed. "Not much of it. Sorry, Setsuna. I can go hunt for something else to eat while you guard the mailbox. Or would you prefer me to guard while you hunt? I'm fine with either, but I should do the one you don't want to do, because it's my fault for spoiling the picnic."

"I'm a little clumsy too, but...yeah, not that bad," he admitted. Setsuna had been about to help her up, but since she got herself up, he just grinned. To her getting carried away, Setsuna shook his head. "Nah, it's fine. Actually, your attitude towards it is how more people should be, but aren't. Everyone should keep trying to improve and not giving up no matter what anyone says."

He laughed. "Tell you what. I told Cayce to wait for a while, and there's a place with food near here. You want to go together?" he asked her. "Then if we take too long, I'll just send you back and keep getting food. If we come back and Cayce has already responded I can just write back to her. No problem."

After a little while, Cayce posted a Tinkerbell postcard, on which was drawn a big smiley face and signed:

Setsuna, again, laughed when he got the postcard, but since he had Duck hadn't been ready, just yet, he drew a quick angel on a piece of paper, then put:

Write back soon. I don't wish I was there, though. Fairies aren't my thing.

Duck blushed and hid behind her bread. "It's got its moments," she mumbled. "But better a funny story than a really sad one, right? Though it's got its sad moments, too," she added with a more downhearted air. Poor lonely Rue. Poor Mytho, tortured by the Raven's blood. "But things'll get better. I'm sure."

The red-headed girl nodded and grinned. "That's the spirit! The answer can't hide forever, not even in a place as big as this!"

Duck gave Setsuna a questioning look and tried to say, "Huh?" around her mouthful of bread. "I'm-" she swallowed, "not that bad. Probably." She did not, however, take another bite until they'd sat down after the discovery of Cayce's letter ( ... )

After receiving Setsuna's reply, Cayce waited long enough to play another round of pinball (that being the only way she had to measure any length of time other than a minute or so). Then she put another postcard in the mail, this time with a picture of Buzz Lightyear on it, and also signed with

Kyouya just happened to be walking by the mailboxes in Tomorrowland when he noticed Setsuna and a young girl he didn't know sitting there. He really wasn't interested at all in talking to them, as Setsuna was part of the annoying Honey I Shrunk the Audience crowd and while the girl might be a potential Host Club client, the Host Club's success only mattered here as a way to entertain Tamaki and nothing else.

Still, he gave them a quick, curious glance to try to see what they were doing.

Eating bread was what Duck was doing, and grinning at Setsuna as she answered, "Yup! I'll make sure!"

She opened her mouth to reply that she had thought it was a pretty angel when a new person walked by, and she waved cheerfully at him. "Hi there!" she called. "What'cha doin'?"

When Duck waved, Setsuna looked up to see Kyouya and grinned. He didn't talk much to him, but he was welcoming to just about anyone in the park, minus a few individuals - Kyouya wasn't one of them.

"Hey! Kyouya. Want some pizza or bread?" Setsuna offered out.

Kyouya considered making an excuse and just leaving, since having a cheerful picnic wasn't really anything he was ever interested in, but in all honesty, he knew it would be impractical of him to brush them off. Setsuna had too many friends and the new girl was an unknown entity. Besides, he didn't have anything else to do that couldn't be done at a later time. So he walked over, hands in his pockets.

"Ah, Setsuna!" he said cheerfully. "Thank you, but I just ate." Which was true, but it was also true that he found the Disneyland 'pizza' disgusting. He glanced at Duck and smiled. "And hello to you as well. Nothing too important, I was just out for a walk. But I don't believe we've met." He extended a hand. "Kyouya Ootori."
