What does this do? (closed rp for Sunshine, Fett, and the Doctor)

The Doctor was bored. He was also very hungry, and it’d been a fair bit since he’d met anybody new. He decided the best way to fix all three problems at the same time would be to go visit one of the shops in which people had, well set up shop. John had recommended the Blue Bayou to him waaaayyy back when, so he decided to go check it out ( Read more... )

"Hi there," said Sunshine, darting out from the kitchens, looking rather wild-eyed. She'd just put a pan of lemon pie filling on the burner. "Just one?" Attempting to grab one of the day's menus with the insides of her wrists - the lemon zest and caster sugar had her hands a bit sticky - she cocked her head to indicate the dining room as a whole. "Anywhere you want."

“Hello,” the Doctor said cheerily, stepping forward to help with menu grabbing. “You must be Sunshine.”

"Thanks," she said in some relief, and would have beamed at him if not for a combination of distraction and natural gruffness. It was sort of a demi-hemi-beam. "Yeah, I am. Rae Seddon, and I'd shake your hand but I'm all lemon-sticky at the moment. And you're..." she thought she might have bumped into him at some point, but she didn't have a name to go with the face.

“The Doctor,” he answered with a wide grin. “And whatever you’re cooking smells absolutely amazing.”

When the alarm went off, his helmet viewplate display gave him an urgent notification. Fett dropped his current surveillance round and rushed back to the Blue Bayou, perhaps a bit faster than he would have under normal circumstances. Upon entering, he scanned for trouble, expecting Sylar had paid the restaurant a visit.

Instead there was that man. The one that lived in that small blue box (that gave off impossible readings) in Toon Town. He was sitting on the floor, fiddling with the equipment.

Fett walked over, his boots coming to halt by the man's knee. "What are you doing?" Someone else might have said something more dramatic or snarky. Fett preferred getting to the point.

The Doctor glanced up at him.

"Oh hello!" he said. "Is this yours? Nice work, I must say. And so compact." Or at least it had been before the Doctor had unwound all the wires. "Most people working with this level of technology would have needed an extra 2/7ths of space here. What's the wire base, derilliam copper?"

"Nar shadan copper," Fett corrected abruptly. The man didn't seem particularly surprised at the armor, but then he wasn't surprised at what he currently taking apart either, so there was no telling what he was used to. "I assume that if you can tell all of that by appearance, you can also likely discern what it's for."

"Nar shadan? Never heard of it." He pulled his glasses from his pocket and perched them on his nose, then activated the sonic screwdriver. "High polycrystal body, slight aluminum strain... what galaxy is it found in?

"'Course I can. Transmitter, obviously,-you know you have a half-skipping signal? Need to get that fixed, going to make people twitchy. Sunshine was worried I was sick- let's see, here's a neat little button, connected to a splitter, run through a... ah I see! Goes straight to your helmet, does it?" He'd pulled each element out as he spoke, carefully disconnecting each tiny piece from the others and turning it over in his hands. "I like your work."
