I've been busy this last couple of weeks working on my final commission of 2020, Jack, the Welsh pony.

Now, one of the questions I often get asked at exhibitions and shows is 'do I ever get a portrait wrong'?  And the answer is 'hell, yeah!'

You definitely made the right decision - the final version really pops out of the page and the proportions are spot on. Think of the first one as a warm up! (I've been there... 😂)

Thanks, yes, I'm so much happier with the second version. don't really know why I persevered for so long with the first one. I don't think I was ever really satisfied with it at any point in the process.

Wow, the difference is amazing, and it's all about the colour! It changes the whole personality of the portrait.

It really does, doesn't it. I don't know why I chose that grey colour - I think I was having a funny five minutes!
