It's about a boy in Afghanistan. It's basically his life, from childhood to middle-age. He goes through a lot of things and eventually emigrates to America. I don't know how to describe it without giving away too much.. but it centers around a horrible event he witnesses when he is 12. It's an amazing book, though. READ IT!!

Heheh, yeah I tried to read Hitchhiker before the movie came out but I only got through a third of it and never had the chance to go back. XD
