I need a bookshelf something wicked.

I was talking with my mom a bunch last night, and about 85% of the conversation was book related. She'd expressed disappointment in her reading selections of late, and I started grilling her about if she'd read any of Neal Stephenson's books. I keep telling people they should read those books, Strangely my favorite is Zodiac, mainly because I feel I have more in common with the hero than I do with a young adolescent girl or a motorbike riding, kitana wielding oriental guy.

Zodiac is really my least favorite of Stephenson's books, probably because it's so normal compared to the rest of his stuff. Though least favorite really just means I don't remember so much about it because the story didn't hold my interest as much as the others. Even The Big U is absolutely insane, and you'd think a book about a college shouldn't be that weird, should it?

I've made role play characters vaguely based on YT and Hiro. The YT one is a skateboard courier, but she's a rich kid who only does it as cover and socialization. She fights crime in her spare time. The one inspired by Hiro is actually a female take on the samurai hacker.

Also, I think you were one of the people I'd talked to about setting a Vampire game into the setting of Diamond Age, weren't you? I really felt that the setting was well suited to the Vampire/World of Darkness vibe. I should still try that at some point.
