I understand the screen printing process, but I have one simple question about the Photographic Emulsion Method.

When you burn the picture on do you have to use the transparancy paper or can you use something else? I dont really feel like spending $25 dollars for 110 sheets. Any suggestions will be welcomed!!

Thanks for your time

you can use computer paper or tracing paper and spread some kind of oil [like vegetable oil] on it. it makes the paper semi-transparent and works pretty good.

I use india ink and tracing paper. It takes two coats mostly.

there are a lot of ways to make photo-stencil transparencies. i like to draw on acetate with made-for-acetate ink...it gives you a better chance of getting the exposure time right because acetate is very transparent and tracing paper is only translucent. another option is, you can buy drawing film which has a bit of a "tooth" to it and can capture some greys well... also cut paper (preferably goldenrod, used with photo to prevent light from passing through), or, i use rubylith.

hope that helps
