My first attempt at sewing some of my own

Under the cut, two images, not huge.

Ok, weird taking pictures of pads. Better make sure to erase them from the camera before someone borrows it.

You did an awesome job! But be careful, sewing your own pads is addicting and once you start it's hard to stop!! :) They are really nice pads. :)

I'm not to the addictive stage yet. I'm still all aggro from all the ones I drafted, only to find that the wings don't come close to meeting, the ones that ended up being 4 inches wide because somewhere they didn't lose a seam allowance that I thought they would, etc. Seriously, this was more complicated than making clothes, I guess because I've never designed anything before.

I have about six or seven patterns that I made- just learning off of each pattern as I went. What I liked, what didn't work for me. So I revised as I went. I have about four that I use now, two of those regularly. It is hard when you start unless you have a pre-made pattern like Addahay's (sp?) to use. But you will get it figured out. :)

Thanks for the encouragement. I really do have enough pads to use, so it's just luxury, and if I ever get good enough, maybe someday gifts. It's hard to stick with it. I didn't want to do Adahy's because it had curves. No curvy sewing is a must if I want something neat. I wouldn't mind some kind of pocket one. I just had no idea how much work it was to draft up something that really works.

Those are great looking pads, I like your choice of fabric!

If you're looking for non-curvy pad patterns, there's one here for a pocket pad. There are a couple of vaguely curved lines, but you could redraw them straight - It would end up the same shape as your second pad.

I did start with that one, and for some reason, when I got it together, the wings didn't even come close to closing. No idea why, unless it was printed in different proportions than it was supposed to be.

I know what you mean! My camera is solely my own, but I still deleted the pictures in fear that someone else might see them and start asking questions.
