BG Velcro

I have a couple of BG 3.0's that have fraying aplix across the front panel and I'd like to sew it back down. Do I have to do it by hand and just go through the PUL layer and avoid puncturing the other (nylon?) layer, or can I just sew across both layers without damaging the water tightness? Also, I think I'm supposed to use polyester thread as ( Read more... )

if you want to sew it back on, you want to avoid sewing down the suedecloth inner, because the stuffer goes behind the aplix. So, yes, you will have to sew by hand to sew it down because I don;t know of any sewing machine that will fit in those pockets.

You may want to try some liquid stitch (never used it before so I don't know how well it will work on diaps and don't know how long it will last) and put it behind the aplix or consider converting the diaps to snaps. (And yes I do snap conversions if you're interested or have questions about it)

I know I need to avoid the suedecloth inner, but there's another layer behind the velcro, held on by the snaps. It looks like maybe nylon or really thinly coated PUL. I guess I would need to sew it by hand either way, but can I sew through both of those layers, or would that hurt the ability to hold water? I'm not sure I can manage to sew through just one layer, even by hand. We're really not interested in snaps. We haven't liked any of our snap closure diapers. I was really hoping for some actual sewing, not glue. I don't think I trust a fabric glue. Well, maybe I'll just try one of them that I wouldn't be devastated to lose and see how it goes.

Sorry for the misunderstanding! I forgot about the inner plasticy like layer! I put the snaps through that when I apply and I have no problem with leakage. So, Probably you should sew through it. I would do one, wash and dry and try it out before you do more than one to test it out.

GL. I hope it works out!

Are they new-ish? I think someone on my friends list had that problem and sent them back to the manufacturer for replacements.

They're seconds, so I doubt they'd be covered like that.
