Oooooh.... WOW! So THAT was the grand experiment! O___O I truly never guessed that (I had no idea as to what the experiments were about), but with Tesla's power... oooh.... SNEAKY! (no hints in earlier chapters that he could fuze food together, and liked his food fuzed... unless it was something small I completely missed!)

Sanji and Nami didn't just eat ONE Devil's Fruit back then... they ate TWO! They just didn't REALIZE it! And everything was just trying to trigger that second Fruit! Now, finally, it has. (I wonder what finally triggered it, if it was anything in particular. Maybe it TOOK the full year for the effects of the 2nd fruit to kick into gear?) Fox-fox fruit for Sanji, and... phase-phase fruit for Nami?

Okay, you guys... you have no seastone on/around you... Sanji's shock collar is already off, sounds like Nami phazed out of hers, too. You've got some pretty powerful abilities at your disposal, and despite how weak you both are after your year of hell, you also have the advantage of surprise. So - somehow -

Yup. That's basically what happened - you summed it up nicely. As far as Tesla liking to fuse his food and how it spawned their idea to use that approach came during a later phase of development during talks with Misha, and it fit really well so I ran with it. However, it should be noted that he DOES demonstrate the ability to fuse objects together in an earlier chapter.

Technically what they ate was "one" Devil Fruit, it had just been the result of a fusion between two. Nami's fruit is as you called it, but Sanji's is the Inu Inu no Mi: Model Fennec Fox. Fennecs are one of the smallest breeds of foxes (hence why he shrank instead of getting bigger - his half-and-half form is about normal human size) and kind of "adorable", so if things had been different Sanji would have likely been the object of some ridicule.

Nami's collar was indeed phased off when she fell through the table.

*nods* I remember him displaying the fuzing ability earlier in the story... just never imagined that he could do that with food. ^.^ Cool twist.

Ah. Fennec fox! Cute! XD I've seen pics of 'em, and they're utterly adorable. :3 And Sanji-fox stuff is ALWAYS adorable. X3

Let's just hope Nami learns to control her phasing ability QUICKLY. Uncontrolled phasing Devil Fruit power + over deep water = NOT GOOD. c__c;;
