The very thing that James needs the most, caring, is the one thing he gets least and is most wary of, but Robbie does it beautifully here.
We forget how miserable and irritable some children's diseases make you and assume it's just because they are young and less inhibited. When I had conjunctivitis, I was amazed at how rough I felt, as it just looks like a sore eye. Hopefully I was more sympathetic afterwards.
And poor James is all about dignity, which is difficult when you look like a hamster and feel awful.

I think that's exactly right, about James. He needs care, he's not used to it and he doesn't handle being put in that position well. Glad you liked how Robbie handled it. Yes, the mumps and dignity..they just don't go together, do they? A hard one to get if you're hoping that the object of your affections in starting to see you in a romantic light ;) Thanks :)
