Pacing. She was pacing. At least she was pretty sure that was what mortals called it. Her arms were folded and she kept muttering to herself.
"Wasn't him. Dammit, call, Max."
Back to the other side of the room. "A spell. Must have been a spell. Karla's probably already looking for the answer. Come on, Karla, call."

"I know, I spoke to her about it. Which tells me that one of two things is happening. One, someone made himself look like Max, or two, someone played with Raven's mind to make her think it was Max, because, Karla," she took a deep breath. "It wasn't Max."

But it had been enough to distract him from turning on his phone after class, and as soon as he did he got 'Dite's message. Now he was calling back, half-worried he knew what it was about.
