Abe shrugged both shoulders in response, thought about it for a minute... then began signing away as well as he could while trying to make sure that Zachary could still mostly keep his eyes on the road. This, of course, meant leaning forward in addition to scooting to the edge of the passenger seat... uncomfortable, but oh well. Better to be safe than sorry.

Big, he signed, exaggerating the gesture and giving a matching facial expression to convey just how huge he thought the campus was, especially compared to the ones within the city limits. He took another second to think, then added, Not special.

"Yeah, I thought it was pretty boring, too," Zachary admitted. His eyes flickered between his brother and the road with practiced ease. Since Abe had been like this before any of them had started to drive, it was something they had all figured out pretty quickly.

Absently, he began to tap at the steering wheel, letting the scenery whiz by around them. Not a whole lot of cars around, despite being the proximity to home. He gave one last glance to Abe, except when he turned to look back to the road...

... it wasn't there anymore. All that was left was a canvas of black and a painful feeling of being inside, outside, everything everywhere, and no matter where he turned his eyes, there was nothing even though he could feel everythingDisorientation and sudden dizziness had him twisting the steering wheel, slamming on the break, trying to hopefully right himself before they veered off the road. The car shuddered, tumbled off the paved path, screeched into the lowered ground beside it. Zachary jerked forward, almost choking against his ( ... )

Abe's eyes went wide when the car began to swerve. There was this niggling in the back of his mind that everything was "right," or "in place," or something, but things did not seem right. It was not right to be skidding across asphalt, it wasn't right to look over and see Zachary panicking--

But looking made it... click. Of course something was in place now. And its timing downright sucked.

That was his last thought before the car came to a crashing halt. Since he was sitting so far forward in his seat, his seat belt couldn't do the best of jobs, so his head smacked against the dashboard before he could put out a hand to stop it. He moved to sit up straight -- made harder by the new and strange angle, as well as his head pounding oh dear God -- and tried to take his seat belt off, but the hand he'd used for support to reorient himself had been cut open somehow... he blearily looked at it, watching the blood trickle down his palm for a split second, then out his window to realize his window wasn't very intact anymore, replaced with a ( ... )

He heard the movement, the slight groan of the seat underneath Abe, but didn't expect the touch. Hadn't seen it coming. Zachary flinched, hand finally grasping at the buckle and releasing it. Fumbling for the handle, the car door clicked open and Zachary leaned outside, ignoring the strange angle, unsure if he was really as far out as he thought he was, and retched.

Too much. His entire body felt like it was being filled and squeezed dry at the same time, strangely relaxed and sore from tension, a mess of feelings in his head, he couldn't comprehend it yet. Is this what it was like for Abe? For Markham? Knowing it was coming was nothing compared to having it happen.

Would someone turn on the lights, please, he didn't want to be stuck in the dark forever...!

Once he was sure even last week's breakfast had been expelled, he shakily pulled himself back into the car, reaching uncertainly for the steering wheel to support himself on. "A... Abe?"

Abe had to close his eyes and pretend not to hear or smell what just happened, or he'd have to poke his head out the window and do the same thing, and he really didn't want that. So while that was going on, he pulled out his cell phone and flipped it open. It didn't take him longer than ten seconds to type:

It happened while he was driving. We're ok but I'm bleeding and he's sick. 911?"

Markham would get it. Of course. Maybe he even had the same vague sense that Abe had had. Damn, but this was a mess...!

When he heard his name, he firmly put a hand on Zachary's shoulder to let him know he was still there, and okay, despite being a bit shaken. They'd figure out how to communicate pretty quickly he wagered, but he knew it wasn't going to happen right this second. So, ever the tactile sort of person, he just moved a bit closer and made sure to maintain some sort of contact at all times.
