Kim was wandering the streets today with Impmon dragging her in and out of various shops. It wasn't tons of fun for her but it made Impmon happy and it got her out of the apartment.

"This place looks nice! Let's see if they have drinks, maybe a bite." Impmon encouraged seizing Kim's sleeve and dragging her through the doors.

"Not bad." Impmon continued earning a grunt of agreement from Kim. All things considered it was the most she'd said all day.

"Android?" Kim was clearly stunned by this blinking and sipping her drink to try and shake it. Her face relaxed in a moment, "I couldn't even tell. You just look like...you know...human."

"A really pretty human but yeah, human." Impmon agreed not as startled. "Like most the other robots in our complex."

"Wait, how many robots are there?" Kim turned back to Impmon. Apparently no one had told her. She only knew of Gaku.

"Watch it, Impy. I'm taken," Ristu threatened the little Digimon with a point of his finger. "If you listen closely enough, you can probably tell I don't sound human. And a lot, actually. If memory serves... there's us UTAU, the Vocaloid that we're based loosely off of, and another group that's unrelated to us. I can't remember what they're called, though."

Kim shrugged, "I thought it was just my ears you know?" She sipped her drink again. "This isn't the weirdest thing I've seen in this world." That thought seemed to keep her relaxed.

"Doesn't matter, I'm not lookin' for love." Impmon teased and then yelped as Kim kicked her under the bar.

Ritsu sighed, rolling his eyes this time.

"There will be plenty of tail to chase tonight. It doesn't need to be mine," he waved a hand dismissively, hoping that the persistent Digimon would drop it, "I wouldn't be surprised. I've been here gaining on two years now. Things certainly have a way of trumping the last weird thing you saw."

"Mmmm." Kim acknowledged not really sure where to take it from there.

Impmon knew though, "Well what's the weirdest thing you've seen do you think?"

"The weirdest thing I've seen... ?" Ritsu echoed, putting a finger to his lips thoughtfully. "Ah... it's so hard to pin just one thing down."

"So far, I'm gonna go with the digimon." Kim decided, "Floating gears, giant bugs, fox girls and...whatever she is." Jerking a thumb at Impmon.

"Hey!"

Of coarse this was coming from a girl who's life was like a video game so that wasn't saying much.

"Little devil? That's what I always assumed," he shrugged in uncertain response. He didn't bother bringing up his own partner. Angel had pretty much gone to live elsewhere in Neon since the two of them couldn't seem to reconcile their differences.

"The digimon are up there, but viruses tend to make things crazy, too. I suppose it's all relative when you get down to it. Being some one's creation kind of makes us a little less likely to bat an eye at what a normal human might consider 'weird'."

"Yeah, that sins virus was..." Kim's cheeks lit up and she drank to avoid talking about an awkward situation she'd wandered in on because of it.

Impmon just cackled, "Noobs. This is just life for us. If you ask me humans are the weird ones. So soft and squishy. No claws, no fangs, no poison. How is it you guys are the most common choice to be heroes around here?"

"... interesting," Ritsu finished for her, having just about the same reaction. Sai being so... forceful was not something he was used to, and while it was fun they were both a little flustered at the end of it all.

"You're asking a robot why humans are the most common choice? ... well if you want to go by logic then it would stand to reason this many humans means most of the universes are populated primary by them, and since its their homes on the line as much as this world is for you guys, they're the obvious choice to give them the option to protect them.

But that's just a guess."

Impmon just shrugged, "Seems to me there have to be better options. After all only some of them how special powers right?"

"We can't all be vegan." Kim commented sarcastically.

"Some worlds don't have powers at all. Would you let them fall just because the people there aren't gifted or made of metal like me?"

"Heck now!" Impmon slammed a fist onto the bar enthusiastically, "I have powers! And I'm a serious butt kicker! I'll defend anyone weaker then me."

"Lucky me." Another barbed sarcastic comment from Kim who wasn't big on fighting herself. "You should have been paired up with Scott. He'd be all over that."

"Exactly," Ritsu nodded, sitting on a stool and crossing his arms over his chest. "Sometimes the ones without power are the only option. Why do you think so many of my kind have been taken, but so far no humans from our world have shown up? We may not be capable of fighting but at least we'll survive a whole lot more."

"That makes sense I guess." Impmon admitted tapping her empty drink glass politely asking for more.

"Too bad we don't have any cheat codes." Kim mumbled gazing into her drink and then wincing, "Damnit now I'm even saying stupid things like Scott would." She paused and looked up to explain, "He's a geek from back home. Best fighter I know though."
