"Yes, but only the first time," Doumeki said with a gentle smile, carefully sitting down on the floor in front of the closet. It was awkward and a little uncomfortable to do that when his arm was still bandaged all the way up to his shoulder and in a sling, but he didn't let it show on his face.
"I used to hide in the prayer room at our temple when I was upset. There was a little spot behind the shrine that my mother could never find me in. She thought I'd run away once... after my grandfather passed away. I refused to come out for a whole day and she had the entire neighborhood searching for me."
It was late when Kazuma woke up, his head still aching but not as much as it had been. The house was quiet, dark, everyone was asleep. He almost considered not going to Nadeko's room, but he was too bothered by what had happened to ignore it or his desire to apologize.
He went to her room as quietly as he could, taking care to not wake Kenji, and poked his head past her door.
"Nadeko-chan?" he asked softly. If she didn't answer he would just go back to bed and try again in the morning.
Nadeko had tried to go to sleep, but after spending so many nights sleeping with Kazuma next to her, it was hard to do so. She did feel a little better, so when she heard Kazuma's voice, she opened her eyes and looked up at the door.
She almost hesitated to answer him. But she took a breath, curled up into a tighter ball, and answered.

"It was enough to fool you the first time," she said quietly.

He knew she didn't want to talk, but that didn't mean she didn't need it. Especially if she was taking refuge in a closet.
