After talking to her brother, Machi had thought long and hard about what to do next. She wanted to-- well, she wanted to feel better about herself. And with some of her memories from her childhood returning, she had more things to compare her current life to.
She realized she missed being happy. She missed friends and family and confidence and the world in general. She hated what she'd become and she thought -- finally -- it was time to stop hesitating. She decided she would head down to the Medical Ward and finally do something about psychological therapy.
Of course, then she received word that Waku was arriving at the Royal Base with Ushiro, who had suddenly gotten sick.
So naturally, she went to the Medical Ward for another reason. Instead, she went to check up on Ushiro. Instead, she found Waku was sleeping outside a room. Waku was sleeping here.
"..."
She didn't really want to wake him. He'd seemed so tired when he was here, what with Moji.
It wasn't long before he woke on his own. The first thing he did was look around for Guilmon; and when he didn't see him, he muttered, "Sister-marrying bastard."
The second thing he did was notice Machi. He bent down to pick up the d-comm he'd dropped on the floor.
He wasn't a very heavy sleeper; at the sound of his name, soft though it was, he woke up, lifting his head. He got up from the visitor's chair to peer inside the room.
He did a quick once over. Somewhat sore to his stomach, weak (ugh), and hungry as heck seemed like a good way to describe his condition right now. He sat up, arranging the pillows so that they made a good back support.
"Been run over by a truck, but okay. What's with your hand?" Or, you know... The missing hand.
He looked at his actual hand before realizing what Jun was talking about.
"Huh. Oh, that. It sort of got burned off during Moji's battle."
The reality was that electrical burns had killed all the nerves and he'd later had it amputated. But it was too much of a mouthful and he didn't feel like delving into it.
"Want more pillows? Or anything to eat?" He'd finally figured out how to work the d-comm/d-reader.

Machi leaned against the wall. She didn't feel comfy sitting down here.
"How is he? I just heard he got sick."

He rubbed an eye.
