Gourry had been expecting that maybe, just maybe, this trip would bring them a step closer to finding a suitable replacement sword. Oh sure, Mystimon's blast sword was GOOD, but... it was still pale comparison to the sword he wanted. Coming upon the Omega Sword, Gourry looked up at it, and he scratched his cheek.

"I..." he began, studying the sword.

"Here it comes," Kotemon muttered, taking a step away from his partner expectantly. "Brace for impact, Dracomon."

"I think it's a little too big, Lina," Gourry finally said, stepping up to the sword and studying it. "And old. And did I say too big?"

Dracomon facepalmed with both claws, while Lina actually showed no sign of irritation, quite to the Digimon's shock.

Rather, she gave an amused sigh, as if expecting something up that alley for once. "Yeah, yeah," she said, rubbing her chin. "I suppose so. Regardless, nice as it'd be to yank that thing out and see what it'd go for I think the fact it's not GONE anywhere is part of the point... C'mon."

She started marching ahead. "Lets scout around."

She was certain, of course, this had been looked over by hundreds of people for years. Likely, no stone had been left unturned around it...

However, the question was begged if anyone had connected the dots properly.

"That prophecy of yours," Kotemon whispered in awe to Dracomon as he watched Lina walk away. "Does it mention anything about a calm before the storm?"

"You think that there's anything worth scouting?" Gourry asked, turning away from the blade and giving it a thump with his fist. "I think you're right, this thing's been here a while, and there've been people here recently."

He pointed to bootprints in the dirt near the sword. "I don't think there's going to be much of anything worth finding," he added, crouching to look closer at the tracks. "Even if there was, someone's beaten us here."

Dracomon just silently shook his head.

Lina continued with her chin in hand, kicking the dirt as she went. He was right, though it begged the question of what someone else WAS doing here. Mind you, she was certain it made a great tourist spot and everything... but the timing was just mildly suspect.

Those bootprints... it wasn't from anything that LIVED here. No Tamers really seemed to, at least not for very long... It also wasn't HEAVILY frequented, at least judging from Comm posts...

No, it was a Tamer. Human or humanoid.

There were any number of reasons one could be drawn here...

She stopped short, as she came across a plaque.

It read:

THIS LEGENDARY BLADE
CAN ONLY BE DRAWN BY THE HOLDERS OF
THE TAGS OF THE DRAGONS, THE BEASTS, THE MACHINES MACHINE,
THE DWELLERS OF THE JUNGLE,
THE BIRDS, THE HOLY ONES, THE DARK ONES,
AND THE DENIZENS OF THE SEA"Well, that's a nice set of instructions, there," Lina mused, running a finger across the words ( ... )

Lina gave a cocky grin, cracking her knuckles. "Ah, c'mon, Gourry. I'm sure you've learned how to dodge well enough by now."

Which, she hoped, was true. But it always did work out like that. She didn't have to give him a heads up to what she was planning. She didn't need to go into every explicit detail...

It just always seemed to... work. When it came down to what was important, everything always... clicked.

She smirked, reddish-pink Digi-Soul rising around her fists.

"So, uh," Coredramon blinked. "Do we start fighting again now...?"

Vergil sighed and hopped down from the pillar of stone, gripping his sword's sheath tightly once again. "Is that all? We hardly even had to pause for that," he commented in irritation. "I feel let down."

Scowling, he beckoned for Gourry with one hand, and he dropped into a stance.

"What are you complaining about?" Matadormon asked Coredramon snidely. "It's not as though you're doing anything."

He broke into a run then, ignoring Coredramon and sprinting straight toward Mystimon. "Back up your boast, or die!" he roared, and he threw a savage roundhouse kick at the other digimon with his bladed boot.

"Hey, you're the one who decided to stop," Gourry told Vergil in response. Something wasn't right, though... He squinted at Vergil, and then he blinked and dove away from the spot he'd been standing on, sprinting towards the other swordsman as though the reaper was nipping at his heels. Behind him, the air began to hum ominously before finally breaking with a loud shriek.

Only when the shriek in the air erupted did it become apparent that Vergil had drawn his sword. The grass where Gourry had been standing was cut and sent adrift in the air by the unseen cuts that he'd executed. With Gourry sprinting towards him, avoiding the attack, Vergil laughed quietly to himself and sheathed Yamato before he lunged at Gourry, drawing the blade within inches of Gourry and striking at his stomach.

Standing calmly in the same spot he'd been standing before being engulfed in the Dragon Slave was Vergil. And in his hand was the Sword of Light, its blade glowing red with the energy of the Dragon Slave it absorbed. The look on Vergil's face was pleased, and he seemed more interested in the sword than the tamers in front of him.

"Digisoul," he observed. "Combined with magic that resonates with this blade. Very interesting indeed..."

He finally turned his gaze towards Lina, and he grinned delightedly. "I don't know how you did that, but I think Plan A failed." He lowered the tip of the Sword of Light menacingly in her direction then. "Do you have a Plan B?"

Lina's hands dropped limply to her sides, and she stared wide eyed.

It had been taken away from her world some time ago. She thought, into the hands of its rightful world...

Gorun Nova.

The Sword of Light.

"MY SWORD!" unfortunately, were the first words that rang from her mouth.

Then she stopped herself, body clenching up.

He had absorbed the Dragon Slave into the Sword of Light.

He could, if he so chose...

...turn that spell right back on them.

IF he knew how to use it... and judging by this first act? She wasn't stupid enough to think HE wasn't smart enough to have figured out more of the blade's basic properties.

Oh. Shit. were about the only words cycling through Lina's mind in taht moment.

Wingdramon, rather than pressing another attack on Matadormon, stopped abruptly from both Lina's spell... and what followed.

He blinked, glancing down at Mystimon, whom he was still carrying.

"That's a bad thing, right?"

"Your sword?!" Gourry demanded, then he sighed and whispered to her quietly. "You know, Lina, when we're done, we need to have a talk about who we're trying to rearm here..."

Clearing his throat, Gourry took a step towards Vergil. "Hey... you know, I'm glad to see it again, but do you mind not pointing that at us?" he asked.

Mystimon said nothing in response to Wingdramon. He simply reached up and whapped the flat of his sword against the side of Wingdramon's head.
