Takeru, however, wasn't in as good a mood as Chika was at the prospect of this. While he was glad to be seeing Hitomi, at the same time he knew that this was going to be extremely awkward for his daughter... but at least and Chika weren't the same age as they were back in Hitomi's world when Haruki had...
Takeru shook his head as they walked to Hitomi's room at the Hinata Inn. Now was not the time to be thinking about things like that. He needed to go help take care of his daughter.
He had actually bought a decent enough supply of chocolate in his D-Reader right now to have made the store clerk sigh and comment on how unlucky he was with his girlfriend at the moment.
Takeru didn't even bother to point out that it was for his daughter, he really didn't have time to waste.
And it didn't take them that long to make it outside Hitomi and the other New Guardian's apartment.
Chika stopped before the door, looking first to Takeru, then straight ahead at the door. Her eyes trailed upward, as if inspecting it. And then back down so that she was staring straight ahead again.
After a few moments, she knocked. And then, she clasped her hands behind her back and waited.
And as she waited, seeing as she really wasn't sure what all to say to Takeru at the moment, she began to hum a small tune.
No, she hadn't forgotten what she'd been told a long time ago, about the fate of Takeru and herself in Hitomi's world. She just figured ... if that was something Hitomi and Takeru were down about, at least one of the three should be in a good mood. Or, at least, give of a semblance of being in one.
It took a few moments for Hitomi to get out of bed after hearing that knock, but she managed to do it and open the door to her room, smiling a bit at seeing both Chika and Takeru there. "Hey..." she said slowly, still not that enthusiastically.
Everything that had happened in her world had been flooding back a lot since Haruki first showed up here... and with her period right now... she wasn't in the mood for good smiles.
Takeru looked over at Hitomi and frowned a bit. She didn't look so good... but well, this was what being parents was about... sort of, anyway. "It's nice to see you again, Hitomi-chan."
Patamon flew over to the girl. "Hey... you okay?"
Takeru just shook his head, wondering how Patamon could act so childish even now... at least until he realized that Patamon was just hoping to tap into that "SQUEE!" instinct that Hitomi first demonstrated when he had first met her.
