It wasn't as if Alicia had been completely out of it since being defeated by Vivio, though. It was just... any time she DID awaken, she was unresponsive, and tried her best to return to her slumber...

This time, as she awoke, though, the first thing she DID see was that photograph.

Her eyes widened, surprised at first, and then who was sitting beside her bed struck her.

Alicia's eyes widened further, and she just... laid there, staring at Fate, practically frozen in absolute fear.

Alicia clutched Fauchard tightly, holding it to her chest. She looked back down, staring at her bed.

"T- trust..."

She closed her eyes, and sighed.

"I'm... not very good at fighting... or magic, either... not... really..."

She opened her eyes, glancing back at Fate. Everything she was being told seemed too unreal, and yet...

"You'd... really do that...?"

Fate nodded. "Of course I would," she said. "Really... you have the talent... you just need a little guidance..."

She smiled again. "Now... would you like something to eat?"

Alicia... blinked, and put her hands over her stomach. She WAS awfully hungry... and honestly, couldn't remember the last time she HAD eaten...

"Um- Ah-"

She turned away a little bit, cheeks reddening.

"Y- yes..."

Fate stood up, and nodded. "Alright then... I'll go get something to eat. While I'm gone, I'll see PawnChessmon in... and you two can catch up, hm?"

Alicia didn't look back at her, but nodded, hugging her knees up against her chest. Everything was all still so confusing... So many people were telling her so many different things...

But this woman... she didn't seem to be what others had made her out to be. She appeared to be genuinely kind and concerned for her well being, and her smile was sincere and gentle...

Just like what she remembered of her mother.

...and the end, she didn't want to hurt people. She didn't want to make others suffer... if there was another way to rectify things...

"Mm," she finally said, just nodding a slight bit. And, still not looking at Fate, just mumbled. "Thank you..."

"Alright then," said Fate, leaning down to kiss Alicia on the forehead.

With that, she moved to the door... and nodded to the Waspmon. "PawnChessmon can see her now... I'm going to go get her something to eat."

With that... she turned towards Alicia's waiting partner.

"She wants to see you."

Alicia just kind of stayed frozen in even more shock as Fate kissed her on the forehead... and, then she saw her partner. PawnChessmon entered, silently as always, seemingly... nervous, and possibly - even despite his helmet - looking a bit ashamed.

Tears formed again in Alicia's eyes, and she just simply... threw herself out of the bed, grabbing and hugging the Digimon as tightly as she could. Like him, she said nothing, even as all she wanted was to express her gratitude and remorse to him.

The Digimon seemed surprised at the sudden display of emotion, but... eventually, hugged her back, patting the girl on the back.

Fate watched this, and... smiled, a bit sadly. She stayed to watch it for a moment longer before... closing the door, and heading off to get Alicia her food.

And for the first time in days... she felt as though things might work out.

But there was still Signum to deal with...
