Someone in my office has been loudly trimming his/her nails for the last 10 minutes. It is pushing me into severe beating mode.

Definitely justifiable. I wouldn't be able to deal. In fact, I've accosted coworkers for doing just that - asked them to hit the bathroom, or whatnot, since it can be a sound worse than nails on a chalkboard, at times.

time to bring out the loud recording of fingernails on the blackboard, or someone tearing cloth. could you just sit on the edge of their desk flossing your teeth, watching??

UGH!!!!! Justifiable for sures. The dude in the cube next to me does this... three times a day, at least twice a week. (I don't even know how he has any nails left).
