Ireland is AWESOME and one of my favorite places ever, seriously. I've honestly never been to Monterey, but it seemed like a good place to set them, and now after writing this, I'd quite like to go.
I love your Joe. I LOVE YOUR JOE. I'm generally unimpressed with stories where everybody gets their happy ending but this was just beyond precious. I loved it. Well done. (I LOVE YOUR JOE.)
Haha, thank you! Joe is not-so-secretly my favorite, but not nearly enough people write him. Which is a shame, because he's so much fun to write, and adorable IRL. But I'm glad you liked my Joe, and enjoyed this. You have no idea how happy that makes me, especially considering you wrote one of my favorite fics last year.
I am shamelessly addicted to him, and I'm very glad you gave him such a prominent and interesting role in this story.I agree with you, not nearly enough people write him, and far too often he's just used as (a) comic relief or (b) a mode of getting from one scene to another, so I'm always glad to find stories where he plays an important role in the action. And also, thank you. :) I'm quite glad to hear that!
I couldn't agree more, and that's why I loved My Hat Has Three Corners so much last year. I'm still stuck on Joe the lego-loving-architect, and so I'm really quite flattered that you enjoyed this. I'll always give Joe a prominent role, though. Really, if I thought it would have worked the other way around, he probably would have had the starring role.
I LOVED this. Like, I spent all of last night reading it, and if I'd left a comment then it would have just been a series of hearts and exclamation points
( ... )
Thank you. I had so much fun writing this (especially Joe, which apparently shows), when I wasn't wanting to strangle myself because it just kept growing and growing and growing. I didn't have any grand plan for where or how it was going to end, and it actually took me a really long time to figure out how Pete and Patrick could even get together without breaking Joe, which I wasn't going to let happen, so I'm glad that the long wait made a lot of sense. I think that's a lot more realistic - and I know personally, I prefer fics that I can actually believe. I'm really pleased to know it worked for you.
I really don't even have words for how much I appreciate everything you just said. So yeah, thank you.
I love Joe and I LOVE Pete/Joe and I am just really happy this story exists. I love their backstory, I love that their relationship isn't some weird perfect fairytale thing and that they realized they had to let it go, even though it had the beginning it did which would put the pressure on them to try to keep it/pretend it's perfect, and I thought you handled that all really well. I also really liked the way we saw the relationship from Patrick's POV.
Also, I would love to read more about Ryland and Alex in this universe, I bet they're pretty entertaining.
Thank you so much! Pete/Joe is pretty much my favorite thing in the universe, and there's never enough, so I'm really glad when other people love them as much as I do. And I'm so happy you liked the backstory. Those were possibly my favorite parts, apart from Joe and his penguins, which may be why I'm currently working on a more detailed Pete/Joe backstory to this piece. But maybe one day I'll add in some more Ryland/Alex. They were fun to write.
