Poppy Z. Brite "Exquisite Corpse" and "Drawing Blood"

I looked through the memories and didn't see these ones:

"Exquisite Corpse" and "Drawing Blood" by Poppy Z. Brite.

The former is downright graphic and haunted me with the sex/death combo, and the latter was just gutwrenching with the first chapter's graphic description of a little boy witnessing murders.

fiction, serial killers, taboos, cannibalism

Those are some of my favourite books. I flinched everytime i saw a screwdriver after EC for like a good year after reading it.

I said to a friend recently that if someone who didn't know me flipped through my copy of EC and ONLY read the highlighted bits, they wouldn't want to know me. Heheh.

LOL, I always think that when i'm reading it. "No one will want to associate with me if they know what this is about!"

is the most gutterally horrific scene i have ever read. that said, i've read it 4 or 5 times in the period of 2 years, so obviously, its terrific.
the description is so thick and rich throughout the book... beautiful.
