I like the fact it's a whole untapped world you can create and shape any way you want. sigh if only I had the time and a gas-powered blow torch, the things that I could make ;)

There's so many aspects! Actual history, alternate history (in my mind including stuff like His Dark Materials), simply using old tech to replicate new tech, all sorts! I love eet.
